Various impulses and events in recent times have contributed to the development of Baltic, especially Latvian, contemporary art with curious expectations. How will art develop under new, changing economic conditions? Are artists becoming more rational? Emotional? Will you save the most precious thing, i.e. to create and fantasise your freedom? In July Vilnius, the European Capital of Culture 2009, will be the first Baltic Art Fair to open Art Vilnius in 2009 and Gallery Art Promotion02 will introduce German and Latvian art through a unifying motto "We are Europeans".
